1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the TxShot Chrome extension handles information when you capture a visible area, a full webpage, a selected region, a browser tab, an application window, or an entire screen.

TxShot is designed to work locally. TXERV does not receive, upload, sell, rent, or use your screenshots, recordings, microphone audio, system audio, webpage content, or saved files.

Important distinction: TxShot temporarily processes website and screen content on your device to perform the capture you requested. The content is not transmitted to TXERV.

2. Data TxShot handles

Website and screen content

When you start a screenshot or recording, TxShot processes only the content needed to complete that action. This may include visible webpage text, images, video, interface elements, or other content displayed in the source you selected.

Audio

If you explicitly enable tab audio, system audio, or microphone audio, TxShot processes that audio locally as part of your recording. Microphone access is not requested unless you enable the microphone option and start a recording.

Temporary tab and window context

TxShot may temporarily use the current tab ID, window ID, viewport size, scroll position, and similar technical context needed to capture the correct source. TxShot does not build or store a browsing-history profile.

Local preferences

TxShot may store settings on your device, such as the preferred image format, capture mode, quality, recording options, and automatic-download preference.

Information TXERV does not collect

  • Names, email addresses, or account details
  • Passwords, authentication credentials, or payment information
  • Browsing-history profiles
  • Analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or usage tracking
  • Cloud copies of screenshots or recordings

3. How data is used

TxShot uses locally processed data only to provide its user-requested features:

  • Capture the visible area of a webpage
  • Capture and combine sections of a full webpage
  • Crop a screenshot to a region you selected
  • Record a tab, window, or entire screen
  • Include tab, system, or microphone audio when you choose those options
  • Preview and download the resulting PNG, JPG, or WebM file
  • Remember your local TxShot preferences

TxShot does not use captured content for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, artificial-intelligence training, or any purpose unrelated to its capture and recording features.

4. Chrome permissions

activeTab

Provides temporary access to the current tab after you start a capture action.

downloads

Saves screenshots and recordings that you create to your device.

scripting

Temporarily adds the full-page helper or selected-area overlay to the active webpage. Temporary elements and listeners are removed after completion or cancellation.

storage

Saves local preferences and small temporary session values. It is not used as permanent cloud storage for captures.

tabCapture

Records the current browser tab only after you choose Current Tab and start recording.

Window and screen recording use Chrome's native source-selection and permission interface. Chrome controls which sources are offered and displays its own sharing indicator while capture is active.

5. Storage and retention

  • Settings: Local preferences remain in Chrome's extension storage until you change them, clear extension data, or remove TxShot.
  • Temporary capture results: TxShot may temporarily keep a capture in extension memory or local browser storage long enough to display a preview and complete a download. Temporary results are removed after use or expiration.
  • Downloaded files: Files saved to your Downloads folder or another location you choose remain under your control until you delete them.
  • Server retention: TXERV has no server-side copy because TxShot does not upload your captures.

6. Sharing and third parties

TXERV does not share captured content or personal data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or other third parties. TxShot contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, tracking pixel, or remote executable code.

Your use of Google Chrome and the Chrome Web Store is also subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices. TxShot does not control Chrome's operating-system permission prompts, download management, or native screen-sharing interface.

7. Security

TxShot limits processing to the local extension environment and requests capture access only when you initiate an action. All executable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript used by TxShot are included in the installed extension package; TxShot does not download or execute remote code.

No software can guarantee absolute security. Keep Chrome updated, review the source selected in Chrome's sharing dialog, and avoid capturing sensitive content unless you intend to save it.

8. Your choices and controls

  • Cancel selected-area capture by pressing Escape.
  • Stop recording from TxShot or Chrome's native sharing indicator.
  • Leave microphone or system audio disabled.
  • Turn automatic download on or off.
  • Delete downloaded files through your operating system.
  • Clear TxShot's stored preferences through Chrome.
  • Review or remove TxShot's permissions at chrome://extensions.
  • Uninstall TxShot to remove its locally stored extension data.

9. Children's privacy

TxShot does not operate accounts, advertising, analytics, or data-collection services and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users.

10. Changes to this policy

TXERV may update this Privacy Policy when TxShot's features, permissions, or data practices change. The updated policy will show a revised date on this page. Material changes to data handling will also be disclosed through the extension or its Chrome Web Store listing where required.
